Women in Tech at WIT Arena

On the 7th March Dataworks will be exhibiting at The Women in Tech Event at WIT Arena. This event is hosted by Waterford Institute of Technology especially for second level and third level female students and their teachers, showcasing women in tech in the region and highlighting the jobs that are available to women in the technology industry.

Women In Technology

Female role models will be sharing their experiences of the importance of females in the technology industry and the path they followed to achieved their current success.

A new report by Accenture ‘Powering Economic Growth: Attracting more young women into science and technology’ shows how under-repredsented women are in science and technology careers. In Ireland, there are roughly 117,800 people working in jobs that utilise STEM skills. The proportion of women employed in such roles hovers at less than 25%, according to the Central Statistics Office. Organisers of the women in tech event are hoping to attract more interest from girls to the technology sector.

This free event will include

  1. exhibitions,
  2. technology demonstrations and
  3. speakers from industry as well as
  4. information around the multitude of computing, engineering and physics third level programmes, which act as a gateway to these industries.

At Dataworks we are delighted to continue to be advocates for women in the technology sector and look forward to meeting students from all over the South East at the event.
